Chapter 49: The Silent Witch Remains Silent
Chapter 49: The Silent Witch Remains Silent
It's Miss Lovegood!
Loila immediately became interested, knowing that Hogwarts had four houses, each with its own characteristics.
But which house would Miss Lovegood be from? Loila instinctively felt that she might be Ravenclaw… After all, Miss Lovegood was probably the most perceptive and intelligent person she had ever met.
Anyway, she's much smarter than Loila herself...
"Ravenclaw!"
Almost instantly, the Sorting Hat announced the house Luna should go to.
really!
A smug smile appeared on Loila's face beneath the mask: I know my friends pretty well, don't I?
Loila didn't pay any attention to the next students, since she didn't know any of them.
Soon, the last student was assigned to a house, and Dumbledore gently tapped the glass in front of him and said, "Good evening, gentlemen and ladies."
As Dumbledore spoke, the slightly noisy Great Hall fell silent once more.
"Before we begin tonight's dinner... I would like to introduce you to our two new professors who have joined us this year due to curriculum changes."
Why are you introducing us right off the bat... Dumbledore, don't you need to say something to warm things up?
Loila, who was not yet ready, nervously clenched her cuffs.
"They thought one of them was..."
"Ah, Headmaster Dumbledore, may I introduce myself?" Suddenly, Mr. Lockhart, who was sitting next to Dumbledore, spoke up.
He slowly rose and gave Dumbledore a bright smile.
"Oh, of course." Dumbledore paused for a moment, but still smiled and nodded as he sat down.
Loila noticed that the serious professor sitting on his other side seemed a little unhappy... but Mr. Lockhart is really amazing.
He actually asked to speak up in this kind of situation...
"Good evening, rising stars of the wizarding world!" Lockhart said in a loud voice, his hands clasped in front of him. "I believe many of you know my name, don't you?"
"Mr. Lockhart! It's Mr. Lockhart!"
Loila saw several bold students in the audience call out his name.
"Ah, I hear your enthusiastic voices." Lockhart nodded with satisfaction and said, "That's right, I am an internationally renowned wizard and author, an honorary member of the Anti-Dark Magic League, a recipient of the Order of Merlin, Third Class... In addition, I have won the Most Charming Smile Award from Wizarding Weekly five times."
"Of course! Of course! I didn't come here to show off." He used a bright smile as a stop-motion, and after a brief silence, he changed to a serious expression.
"I am here to teach you gentlemen and ladies how to face the most dangerous! The most terrifying! Black magic!"
"Of course, if you have any fans... you're welcome to chat with me after class."
"Ahem, ahem." Just as Loila was listening with great interest, the stern-looking woman next to Dumbledore coughed and said, "Professor Lockhart..."
Please try to be as concise as possible.
"Ah! Of course, Professor McGonagall." Lockhart smiled gently at the woman, and even winked.
"vomit."
Loila seemed to hear several young wizards vomiting in the audience; they appeared to be the Gryffindor boys.
Most of the students seemed to still look at Lockhart with great admiration.
Mr. Lockhart is really amazing!
Loila also admired Lockhart a bit. Although she couldn't understand his long speech at all, she was already very impressed that he could speak fluently in front of so many people.
I definitely couldn't do it...
Lockhart, whose interest had been dampened by Professor McGonagall, shrugged lightly, said a few more casual words, and then ended it all with a charming smile.
Then... there was a moment of silence.
Loila pursed her lips and looked at Dumbledore.
Shouldn't you just introduce me... and then I stand up and nod?
Only someone like Mr. Lockhart can introduce himself!
Dumbledore seemed to notice the look Loyra was giving him, and he coughed lightly, saying, "Thank you for your introduction, Professor Lockhart."
"Then let me introduce you to our other Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."
"Miss Loila Hamilton," Dumbledore said, nodding gently.
"Splash!"
Loila stood up slowly, her body trembling slightly. She could feel the gazes of everyone below the stage, so she chose to close her eyes and nod gently.
Then he sat down as if relieved.
This is by no means a good self-introduction... especially after such an excellent introduction by Mr. Lockhart.
Fortunately, I succeeded... I didn't tip over the chair because of nervousness, or fall because of fear... It was much better than my self-introduction at Durmstrang.
"She will be in charge of the curriculum for students in the first through fourth years." Dumbledore's words drew a collective sigh of disappointment from the group of young wizards.
They seem to prefer Mr. Lockhart… which makes sense, one being a strange masked fellow who never speaks… the other a renowned wizarding explorer and author.
Loila knew which one to choose... but that's fine too. If they don't have high hopes for themselves, they won't be too disappointed. Loila didn't think she would be a good teacher...
"Don't be sad, everyone." Dumbledore seemed to sense everyone's disappointment, and he smiled gently, saying, "Miss Hamilton is a very outstanding wizard."
"He is definitely no worse than Mr. Lockhart."

"Dumbledore! What are you doing?!" Royla glared at Dumbledore, wishing she could kill the old man with a Killing Curse.
Don't talk nonsense!
How can someone like me, a lazy bum, compare to an excellent wizard like Mr. Lockhart?
You...you're trying to flatter me to death!
Loila could already see the surprised expressions on the faces of the young wizards below the stage.
"This is the first time Professor Dumbledore has said something like that," Hagrid whispered beside him. "He thinks highly of you!"
"No...no..." Royla stammered, trying to tell Hagrid that she was just a socially awkward loser...
But before he could even open his mouth, Hagrid continued, "I know you're very capable, Miss Hamilton."
"Professor Dumbledore told me you've mastered the silent charm of all spells, is that right?" Hagrid lowered his voice slightly. "That's quite an achievement!"
What kind of achievement is that! It's just to graduate!
This isn't even as impressive as Mr. Lockhart's so-called most charming smile... He actually won it five times!
"Miss Hamilton has mastered the silent spells of all spells?" Hagrid's lowered voice didn't seem to have much effect, as the short professor sitting next to him turned to look at Loira in surprise.
"I think only one person has done it... Wait!" The professor exclaimed in surprise, as if realizing something. "You're Miss Hamilton from Durmstrang, aren't you?"
No! I'm not! Hagrid! You bastard! How can you be just like Dumbledore!
Loila was so embarrassed that she couldn't say anything. She could only nod stiffly in response to the short professor.
"I am Felius Flitwick," the short professor introduced himself after Loira nodded. "I heard your story when I was young."
"And I also hope to have a duel with you in the Wizarding Duel Tournament," Flitwick said in a high-pitched voice. "I heard you're Durmstrang's two-time consecutive dueling champion."
"It's wonderful that you're teaching this course," the short professor said softly, bowing his head. "It seems our students can finally have a proper year of Defense Against the Dark Arts."
"Ah...ha...haha..."
Loila, who let out a stiff laugh, really wanted to plug her ears with her wand to avoid hearing these embarrassing words.
