Chapter 12 The Chain of Storms from the Rainy Night Interception

Chapter 12 The Chain of Storms from the Rainy Night Interception

The Myanmar jade auction was bustling with activity.

However, the commotion froze the moment Lin Yu's two-ton "Hpakant Sacred Stone" entered the arena.

"This is impossible!" The owner of the Karen Group stared bloodshot at the familiar pine-pattern pattern on the rough stone. "This 'divine stone' was clearly hidden in Sister Mu's military camp, heavily guarded. How could it possibly be here?"

The surrounding merchants whispered amongst themselves, their gazes shifting back and forth between Lin Yu and Karen. A tense atmosphere hung in the air.

Just then, several camouflaged military vehicles roared in and blocked the entrance to the auction. The doors opened, and fully armed Burmese soldiers jumped out, their dark gun barrels pointed at the crowd.

"Everyone, stay where you are!"

The leading officer walked up to Lin Yu expressionlessly and presented a document: "Mr. Lin Yu, you are suspected of illegally smuggling strategic materials. Your exhibits are hereby seized in accordance with the law, and the site is cordoned off. No one is allowed to enter or leave without permission."

"Sealing off the venue?" Lin Yu frowned, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.

He quickly took out his satellite phone to try to contact Ah Cha, but found that the signal had been completely blocked.

"President Lin," Wu Qinmao approached, his face pale, "I just received intelligence that Miss Acha's team has been detained at the Muse border. The Karen Group reported them to the military for illegally crossing the border, and now they are surrounded in an abandoned military camp, in a very dangerous situation."

"Damn it!" Lin Yu slammed his fist into the pillar next to him.

It was all a setup. The Karen Group had anticipated Lin Yu's attempt to intercept them, so they deliberately tampered with the raw stones, or perhaps they had set up a series of traps. Their real purpose was to use the military to detain Acha and force Lin Yu to comply.

"Mr. Lin, the general has ordered that as long as you relinquish ownership of this prime bid and admit that the intelligence was obtained through improper means, your friend will be able to 'return home safely,'" the officer said coldly.

"Using Acha's life to exchange for this stone?" A flash of anger crossed Lin Yu's eyes. "Karen, you're truly despicable!"

[Ding! Host detected facing a serious crisis, triggering "counter-reconnaissance" skill.]

[High-density electronic surveillance signals detected in the vicinity. Should we attempt to interfere?]

"System, activate 'counter-surveillance' and create electromagnetic interference. I need to do something in the blind spot of surveillance."

Lin Yu took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He looked around; although the soldiers' guns were pointed at him, there was a hint of hesitation in their eyes. Clearly, they were just following orders and didn't want to actually cause an international conflict.

"Okay, I agree to your conditions," Lin Yu suddenly spoke, his tone calm. "But I have one request."

"What are your requirements?"

"I want the stone cut open on the spot."

"What?" The officer was stunned.

"Since this stone is accused of being smuggled, I will cut it open in front of everyone. If it's just scrap inside, I'll plead guilty and get out of Myanmar. But if it's top-quality jade inside, then it proves my innocence, and you must release my friend."

Lin Yu's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable air of dominance.

"This..." The officer hesitated for a moment, then picked up the walkie-talkie to ask his superior for instructions.

Just then, Lin Yu quietly activated his "counter-surveillance" skill. A weak electromagnetic wave spread from his body, causing the surrounding surveillance cameras to flicker a few times and the images to become blurry.

"The general said you can cut the stone, but only with one knife. If you break it, you will not only have to confess, but also compensate the military for the loss."

It's a deal.

The stone-cutting machine roared to life.

Lin Yu stood beside the machine with his eyes closed, but a different scene was unfolding in his mind.

[Activate "Probability Calculation" to find the optimal cutting line.]

[Target locked: The center of the rough stone, avoiding surface cracks, go straight for the core.]

Cut here.

Lin Yu opened his eyes, and the chalk in his hand drew a strange arc on the raw stone.

"Slice it down with one stroke."

As the grinding wheel turned, stone chips flew everywhere.

With one cut, the cut surface was revealed.

At first, the cut surface was grayish-white and there was nothing there.

"It's a disaster!" Karen sneered from afar. "I told you he was smuggled in. How dare he bring out such worthless stones to embarrass himself!"

The surrounding soldiers also relaxed their vigilance, their gun barrels slightly lowered.

However, Lin Yu didn't care at all. He picked up the grinding wheel and gently rubbed it.

With a "snap," the outer skin peeled off, and a rich, vibrant green instantly came into everyone's view!

Then, the green grew deeper and brighter. It was a rare imperial green, so vibrant it seemed to drip with water, shimmering brilliantly under the light.

"This...this is full green! Glassy type!" A gasp of surprise erupted from the crowd.

"It's not over yet." Lin Yu's lips curled into a cold smile as he continued to direct the stone-cutting machine. "Make another cut."

With the second cut, the cut surface became even larger. The green color actually ran through the entire rough stone, and there was even a wisp of purple mist inside, forming a rare "spring with color"!

"My God! This is the legendary 'Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity' tricolor jade! It's priceless!"

The entire venue erupted in cheers.

Just then, Lin Yu suddenly took out his phone, took a picture of the cut surface, and quickly uploaded it to international auction websites and major news media platforms.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I believe you all have witnessed the value of this jade. I have already put it up for auction online with a starting price of one hundred million US dollars. If anything happens to my friend, this jade will be immediately sold to buyers in other countries. The Myanmar military will not only lose this huge amount of tax revenue, but will also be branded as 'maliciously holding hostages'."

"You dare threaten the military?" The officer's expression changed drastically, and he raised his gun again.

"This is not a threat, this is a negotiation." Lin Yu's gaze was piercing as he stared directly at the officer. "You'd better ask your general now whether Miss Acha's life is more important, or the tax revenue from this jade."

Cold sweat beaded on the officer's forehead. He picked up the walkie-talkie again and reported the situation in a trembling voice.

A few minutes later, the general's angry roar came through the walkie-talkie, but he ultimately gave the order: "Release her! Release that Chinese woman!"

"Yes, General!"

The officer holstered his gun and said to Lin Yu, "Mr. Lin, your friend has been released and is on his way back to China."

"Very good." Lin Yu breathed a sigh of relief, but he knew that this game was not over yet.

"As for this jade..." the officer said greedily, looking at the cut surface, "Since you are innocent, according to regulations, the Burmese government has the right of first refusal, and the price..."

"Prices are determined by the international market," Lin Yu interrupted him. "And I have one more condition."

"What are the conditions?"

"I want to see your general. To talk in person."

Lin Yu knew that a single piece of jade wouldn't be enough to completely resolve his predicament in Myanmar. He needed to use this opportunity to establish a delicate balance with the Myanmar military, or even to reach some form of cooperation.

Only in this way can he truly gain a foothold in the upcoming public auctions.

[Ding! The host has successfully rescued the hostages and resolved the crisis, completing the "Last Stand" achievement.]

[Reward: Unlocks the "Advanced Diplomacy" skill, elevating relations with the Myanmar military to "Friendly".]

[Hint: The real game of power has only just begun.]

Lin Yu watched the military vehicle approaching from afar. He knew that tonight's rainy night had not only saved Acha, but also earned him a place in this land full of greed and killing.
