Chapter 11 Audrey Joins the Mafia

Chapter 11 Audrey Joins the Mafia

Upon hearing Raphael's threat, Audrey quickly regained her composure, pointed to the cards on the table, and asked Raphael with a smile, "Are you really going to fight, or are you just pretending?"

Raphael paused for a moment before saying, "Of course it's a real fight, a battle against evil, the kind where you gamble."

As he spoke, he took out his wallet and handed Audrey a few coins as her betting money.

A dozen minutes later, two policemen wearing swords and crown badges knocked on the door. The younger of the two officers took out a portrait and asked the homeowner, Markle, if he had seen the person in the portrait.

The person in the portrait was exceptionally beautiful, with a sweet smile; it was Audrey Hall.

Markel wasn't a gangster and had no experience dealing with the police. He left the door ajar, trying to avoid letting the police see Raphael and the others in the living room, while immediately saying, "N-no... I haven't seen them before."

The two policemen outside were the kind responsible for the security of several blocks. Although they often engaged in extortion and were similar to gangsters, they also had extensive experience dealing with ordinary people at the bottom of society.

Seeing that Markle's expression was somewhat unnatural, the middle-aged policeman behind her immediately asked sternly, "Where have you seen this lady?"

He sneered, "If we take you back for questioning, watch out, we might break your other leg!"

Another, younger policeman simply and rudely pushed open the door and immediately saw the three people playing cards in the living room.

The two policemen's attention was immediately drawn to Raphael, and their gazes only swept over Carter and Audrey.

Because Audrey had her back to them, was dressed in men's clothing, and had her hair covered by a hat, she did not attract the attention of the two police officers.

The young policeman immediately put on a smile and said, "Mr. Collins, what... what are you doing here?"

Raphael Collins gave the young policeman a displeased look: "Do I need to report to you about coming here?"

"That's not what I meant." The young policeman took two steps forward, scratching his head and smiling.

The two steps the policeman took forward made Markle and Carter's hearts leap into their throats.

Raphael, however, wore a long face and threw down the cards in his hand: "Your luck is fucking awful."

This wasn't something he was acting out. He didn't know why he and Carter had lost several rounds in a row. In no time, Audrey had already won 3 sols and 6 pence.

In fact, this was Audrey's ability to use the "audience" approach to carefully observe Raphael and Carter's expressions and body language, and accurately grasp their psychological activities.

Or you could simply cooperate with Susie and have Susie, in her "psychologically invisible" state, look at the cards of the other two people.

Audrey could roughly tell what cards Raphael and his team had in their hands simply by exchanging glances with Susie.

So even though she didn't have a good hand, she kept winning.

Raphael glanced at the two policemen in a bad mood: "It seems the owner of this place hasn't called the police. You two can go and attend to other matters."

The two policemen quickly replied, "Yes, yes, yes."

Then he immediately left the room, making sure to close the door behind him.

They breathed a sigh of relief after leaving. They had assumed that Markle's unnatural expression was because he had offended Raphael of the Mafia, which was why he was acting so embarrassed.

Regarding this matter, they would only pray for Markle in their hearts, but they had no intention of interfering.

In the living room of the apartment, Markle and Carter breathed a long sigh of relief. Markle, in particular, was so tense that he felt completely exhausted and almost collapsed to the floor.

Raphael lit a cigarette and said to Audrey, "You're quite good at cards."

Seeing the gang leader's discomfitured expression, Audrey smiled slightly and said, "It's alright."

As she spoke, she pushed the money she had won to Raphael, because she had noticed that Raphael looked pained when he took out his money.

Raphael waved his hand: "That's your win, it has nothing to do with me."

Audrey slowly nodded and put the money away. Sure enough, she saw a hint of reluctance in Raphael's eyes.

At this point, Carter asked, "Boss, what do we do now?"

"Back to Mafia headquarters," Raphael said. "Since the official Extraordinary Ones haven't found any clues about us, we should just appear at headquarters as usual."

As he spoke, he glanced at Audrey: "Welcome to the Mafia."

Audrey hesitated, then said, "I...I refuse to join."

"I knew you'd be happy about this," Raphael said, as if he hadn't heard Audrey.

"I said, I refuse!"

"Yes, yes, I know you're happy," Raphael said with a smile.

Audrey was tempted to use her powers to teach Raphael a lesson, but remembering Mr. Fool's mission, she ultimately restrained herself.

Raphael then redrew Audrey's makeup, covering half of her face with his beard.

Although it still has a somewhat rugged aesthetic, it has at least managed to roughly cover up the other person's appearance.

Raphael then had Carter find a rental carriage and instructed Markel that if anyone asked, he should say that his compensation money had been extorted by the Mafia.

When the police hear about this, they might at most feel sorry for Markle's unfortunate fate, but they would never take the initiative to help him recover the compensation.

In the rented carriage, Raphael kept a vigilant eye on the outside. He was somewhat surprised that the official extraordinary individuals hadn't found a single clue.

Previously, he only knew that he had a special constitution that could resist divination. Now, Raphael realized that the level of his special constitution seemed to be very high.

……

Western Continent.

The "Dark Lodge" is the Jizhou branch, with its underground altar.

Before the circular altar where the "Otherworldly Demon Lord" was summoned (actually Raphael), there was an offering table with an incense burner, a pig's head, a sheep's head, and a cow's head. Behind the offering table was a jade tablet with the words "Mysterious Sound Demon Lord" engraved on it.

Branch leader Chen Qingzhi made a hand seal with his right hand, and the yellow paper on the offering table floated up on its own. He bit his index finger and used his blood to draw several strange symbols on the yellow paper. Then he smeared the talisman on the jade tablet: "Hurry, hurry, as the law commands!"

The talisman immediately burst into flames. Chen Qingzhi stared intently at the jade tablet, and upon seeing it begin to emit a faint glow, he immediately knelt down, saying, "Welcome, Ancestral Master!"

In his previous conversation with the "Otherworldly Demon Lord," Chen Qingzhi did not tell the truth in many ways. For example, he could actually contact the founder of the "Blood Sect" of Dark Lodge, the "Mysterious Sound Demon Lord," at any time and was quite familiar with the founder's specific condition.

Moreover, his summoning of the "Otherworldly Demon Lord" was actually at the behest of the "Mysterious Sound Demon Lord".

In an instant, a divine sense descended upon the jade tablet, and Chen Qingzhi, who was kneeling on the ground, immediately felt immense mental pressure, as well as endless distortion and madness.

He noticed that his master's condition seemed to have worsened: "Reporting to the master, a few hours ago, following the method you taught me, I summoned a demon lord from another world."
