Chapter 475: Discussion of Good or Bad Endings
As time went by, even though Della relied on bank transfers to handle all sorts of trivial information every day, her schedule was still quite empty. In terms of being sidelined, she was only slightly better off than Maggie.
This is a good thing, since she doesn't want to work for Voldemort anyway, but it's definitely not a good sign. It shows that if Voldemort wins, she will face a long and arduous reckoning.
As a ruler, Voldemort was not good enough, but as a dictator, he was quite good.
Today, with the snow melting and spring buds beginning to appear, Della has a rare guest. Edward Abate comes to talk to her about profits. This can actually be done through a bank, but when it comes to accounts, it's more reassuring to check them on the spot.
Della doesn't value money much and is usually very generous, but that doesn't mean she'll allow others to cheat her out of money.
“Sales of the silver series have been consistently stable, and sales increase every time a new series is released,” Edward pushed the thick ledger over. “The software upgrade fees at the directly operated stores are also considerable.”
Yinxin and Yintong are currently the most profitable companies. Despite their dominant position, they haven't neglected to upgrade and innovate. After all, this is a magical world where anyone can create something, so it's always important to stay ahead of the curve.
Each time a new phone is released, a new feature is added or an optimized feature is added, along with an exclusive exterior design. New features can only be enjoyed by purchasing a new phone, while optimized features can be purchased from Apple Stores.
Currently, we maintain a stable approach of releasing a small series every quarter (only changing the skin) and a large series every six months (iterating on both features and skins). Meanwhile, the most basic communication and file processing functions are only optimized, not upgraded, in order to stabilize the core business.
"You've earned quite a bit." Della flipped through the ledgers, comparing the current and previous periods' data from various countries. She randomly selected a few to check if her share had been fully paid, and found that each one had received an overpayment. She couldn't help but chuckle.
Voldemort made her sit on the sidelines among a group of madmen, but there were many who respected her, mostly intelligent people.
"Hmm?" Della raised an eyebrow as she turned to the last page. "Isn't the British Ministry of Magic still open? Sales can't be this low, can they?"
“Some people think this method of communication is insecure,” Edward said cautiously.
Indeed, the addition of voice communication functionality raises security concerns because permissions are granted only to the host computer. However, as far as Della knows, they haven't been using it for any activities. Initially, this information was pure conspiracy theory, but now, especially within the British magical community during the war, it seems more plausible.
“War, war,” Della sighed twice, then suddenly asked Edward, “Mr. Abate, have you thought about the outcome of this war?”
“My thoughts are irrelevant to the outcome,” Edward replied calmly.
"Have you thought about your ending?" Della asked again. "Since it's related to you, it should be meaningful, right?"
“Some things may be happening for the first time, while others are not,” Edward said slowly. “But in any case, many things cannot be changed. Some solutions can only be used once, and then a second time. At worst, they can only be used in a different place.”
Della understood Edward's words: money and power allowed many people to escape trial after Voldemort's first defeat, and if Voldemort lost, he could naturally escape a second time.
As for the possibility of Voldemort winning, it would be purely bad for her and Maggie. Any Death Eater with a brain could see that it wouldn't be entirely good either. Preparing to escape and find another place to use power and money would at least allow them to live a little longer.
Della wasn't very well-prepared for this, but she did have a considerable amount of money in underground accounts. She didn't launder it out simply because the amount was too large, while Maggie was already doing that. If she did it too, her little tail would be very obvious.
“It’s really hard to think about, Mr. Abate,” Della said, appreciating Edward’s answer. “You put in money and effort, but you don’t get much benefit whether you win or lose.”
“What are you saying, Miss Riddle?” Edward’s gaze fell on the ledger. “You have given me more confidence than ever before.”
Della smiled, without feigning modesty, which was tantamount to acknowledging the compliment. She closed the ledger and said kindly, "The accounts are in order, Mr. Abate. Thank you for your hard work."
“It’s my pleasure.” Edward nodded, placing his hand gracefully on his chest.
"Let me see you out; it's a good opportunity for a walk." Della stood up with a smile, always giving respect to intelligent people.
“You’re too kind, Miss Riddle.” Edward stood up as well, offering a social smile.
Just as the two nodded to each other and were about to leave, the door was flung open and Barty Crouch Jr. burst in.
Where are my brothers?!
He shouted loudly, looking completely insane.
