Chapter 13 Destiny
Chapter 13 Destiny
Outside the window, it was pitch black, with only occasional stray lights flashing by like lone stars in a wilderness. Lu Mingfei had no idea where the train was headed, nor what awaited him ahead.
But he knew he had already embarked on this path.
There's no going back.
After an unknown amount of time, the train began to slow down.
The darkness outside the window gradually faded, turning into a hazy gray-white. Dawn broke.
"We're almost there," Ye Sheng said.
Lu Mingfei looked out the window. Morning mist hung in the air, and he could vaguely see rolling mountains and dense forests. The train wound its way through the mountains, the tracks serpentine.
Finally, the fog lifted a bit, and a valley appeared before us.
In the valley, a cluster of buildings is built against the mountain.
Gothic spires, Romanesque domes, medieval castle-like towers, and modern glass curtain walls—architecture from different eras and styles is wonderfully blended together, surrounded by lush vines and ancient trees. In the center of the valley lies a huge lake, its waters as blue as a mirror, reflecting the sky and the buildings.
The train crossed a stone bridge spanning a canyon, with a bottomless abyss below. Then, it slowly pulled into a station hidden in the rock face.
There were already people waiting on the platform.
The train stopped and the doors opened.
Lu Mingfei followed Professor Schneider off the bus and stepped onto the land of Kassel College.
A gentle morning breeze caressed my face, carrying the scents of grass, earth, and lake water. In the distance, the sound of bells rang out, melodious and solemn.
He looked up at the ancient buildings, at the azure lake, at the place that would become his home for the next few years—or even longer.
"Welcome to Kassel College, Lu Mingfei," Professor Schneider said.
Lu Mingfei took a deep breath and nodded.
he came.
He came regardless of whether heaven or hell lay ahead.
On the top floor of the main building not far away, behind a window, an elderly man with silver hair was holding a cup of red tea, smiling as he looked at the boy on the platform.
"It's finally here," Hilbert Jean Angers said softly. "Let's see how far you can go, Lu Mingfei."

Real World · Behind the Golden Screen
The image on the golden screen froze at the moment when Lu Mingfei looked up at Kassel College.
The morning light shone on his face, and for the first time, a resolute light appeared in his usually droopy eyes.
The students and faculty of Kassel College watched this scene in silence for a long time.
They witnessed the transformation of a loser—from an ordinary boy squatting under an old locust tree waiting for a commissioner, to a new life standing on the land of Kassel with a determined look in his eyes.
They also saw the undercurrents hidden beneath the glamorous surface—the secret of bloodline, the death of his parents, dangerous experiments, and those unknown beings watching Lu Mingfei.
"S-rank..." a student murmured, "S-rank? How many years has it been since Kassel produced an S-rank student?"
"Was it Principal Angers last time? More than a hundred years ago?"
"Not only that, I've heard there were S-rank members in the original Lionheart Society..."
"But those are all legends! Besides the principal, who else among the living S-class members is alive now?"
"Senior Chu Zihang is A-rank, right? President Caesar is also A-rank. S-rank... what does that even mean?"
Everyone's eyes unconsciously turned to Chu Zihang and Caesar.
Chu Zihang remained expressionless, but his grip on the knife tightened. Caesar, arms crossed, a half-smile playing on his lips: "Interesting. An S-class freshman? Looks like Kassel's going to be lively."
Nono looked up at the light screen, at her future self holding Lu Mingfei's hand, and at the tears in his eyes.
Her heart was aching again.
The pain was strange; it wasn't physical, but rather a deeper, more spiritual resonance. It was as if, on some other timeline, she had truly held his hand like that, truly wanted to protect him, truly had…
Did you love him?
The thought startled Nono. She shook her head, trying to shake off the absurd idea.
Impossible. She'd only just met Lu Mingfei—no, she didn't even really know him; she'd only seen him through the light screen. How could she possibly love him?
But why does she feel like crying when she sees those images?
"Nono," Caesar said, walking to her side. "Are you alright?"
Nono turned her head and forced a smile: "I'm fine. It's just... I was a little engrossed in what I was watching."
"That future you," Caesar looked at her, "seemed to have a special connection with Lu Mingfei."
His tone was calm, but Nono detected a hint of probing.
"Maybe," Nono shrugged. "Who knows what the future holds?"
"Yes." Caesar looked at the light screen, "The future..."
Just then, the image on the screen began to change again.

[Next Scene: The 3E Exam and the Sorrow of Blood]
A new headline has emerged.
"The 3E exam!" a student exclaimed. "That's a pedigree assessment exam!"
"Lu Mingfei is an S-level student, what will the exam be like?"
"And then there's the sorrow of blood... that's a loneliness only found in highly pure hybrids..."
"Look, it's about to start!"
Everyone's attention was refocused on the light screen.
As Nono looked at the words "Blood's Sorrow," a sense of foreboding suddenly welled up in her heart.
Lonely……
What kind of loneliness is hidden in the heart of that boy who always has droopy eyes, that boy who looks so ordinary?
She suddenly wanted to go find him right now—not the future him, but the real Lu Mingfei, who was still a senior in high school in China and knew nothing about anything.
She wanted to tell him: Don't be afraid, I will find you.
No matter what the future holds, no matter how fate arranges things.
I will find you.
Just as light finds darkness.
It was like destiny.
